The Battle of Pozieres was a continuous struggle for the 1st, 2nd and 4th Australian Divisions. The Australian soldiers we under continuous artillery fire and counters-attacks from Germany. After Australia captured Pozieres on 23rd July,1916, altogether they suffered 6,848 casualties.
