They have many "fiestas" throughout the day
Christmas starts on Dec.7 by starting with "La virgin de la Immaculada"
Many drink rum and eat buñuelos
Lighting candles and to put on windows and balconies
On December 16 many reunite with loved ones they haven't seen in years

DAY OF CANDLES
Light candles at dusk
Many light wooden boards to make infinite lines
They will light candles in front of churches and houses
The day is ended with partying, music, and dancing
Also they cook empanadas and drink

DECORATIONS
They start decorating around the 1st of December
Their decorations include:
The nativity scene,
Christmas trees, lights, angles
And Red and white candles

NOVENA
On December 16 through 24 people pray every night
every night a Novena they sing villancicos (Spanish Christmas carols)

TRADITIONS
Many don't believe in Santa, they think baby Jesus brings them presents
They write letters to baby Jesus telling him what they want and putting it on them in the nativity scene
The letter disappears so he knows what to bring the children
People buy presents and get kids to wrap it and delivery it to poor beggars
Many people set of fire works during the month of December called quema pólvora

FOOD
Pork, ham, buñuelos, and chicken soup
If you celebrate on a farm the main dish is:
Roasted pig or other grilled meats
The entire country enjoys a dessert called natilla
