Polemic (n.): the art or practice of engaging in controversial debate or dispute

Thursday's Prompt (#1):
What is the polemic (argument) Huxley is making about the future? What is he warning us of? And how does he achieve this polemic (argument) in the novel? (Think about themes, plot, characterization, setting, satire, etc.)

Or... prompt #2:
Do you feel that Huxley's warning for the future has come true? Argue for or against Brave New World being an accurate depiction of our world today.

Things to consider:

  • This is a 40 pt. assessment
  • Your thesis should clearly and persuasively address the entire prompt (what, how)
  • You should aim for three solid pieces of evidence. The quality and persuasiveness of your evidence will affect your score.
  • Plan ahead-- you will have 1st hour Thursday to write your response.
