WHAT IS AER LINGUS

  • Aer Lingus is the flag carrier airline of Ireland and the second-largest airline in the country after Ryanair.Aer Lingus was Founded by the Irish government.Aer Lingus is now owned by International Airlines Group (IAG)since 2015.

TAKE OVER OF AER LINGUS

  • Ryanair retained a 30% stake in Aer Lingus which it agreed to sell to IAG on 10 July 2015 for €2.55 per share. In August 2015, Aer Lingus' shareholders officially accepted IAG's takeover offfer

HISTORY OF AER LINGUS

  • Aer Lingus was founded on 15 April 1936, with a capital of £100,000. Its first chairman was Seán Ó hUadhaigh. Aer Lingus was registered as an airline on 22 May 1936.The name Aer Lingus was proposed by Richard O'Connor. Aer Lingus was originally pronounced 'air ling-us' and only later did the pronunciation change to the 'air ling-gus' used now.

  • Aer Lingus pays its employees an average of $62,000 a year. Aer Lingus employees with the job title Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) make the most with an average annual salary of $90,094, while employees with the title Executive Assistant make the least with an average annual salary of $51,368.
