“Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭29:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“He was successful, because everything he did for the Temple or in observance of the Law, he did in a spirit of complete loyalty and devotion to his God.”‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭31:21‬ ‭GNB‬‬

The Importance of Devotion

1. Fellowship

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

2. Relationship

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

3. Source of Strength

The Purpose of Devotion

1. Get Direction

“Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭25:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

a. Consider your way

“Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

B. Commit your way

“Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

" God this is what I am supposed to do in my next 24-hour schedule, what do you think about it. "

2. Gain Delight

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16:11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

a. Devotion is spending time with God. b. Bible study is learning more about God.

3. Grow Daily

2 Peter 1:3-4...( He has given) the promise to save us....and to give us His own character!

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.”‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

How to Begin your Devotion?

1. Select a specific timea. Start with 15 mins. and let it grow ( Don't start with 2 hours)b. Don't keep watching the clock . ( this is not the way to build a relationship. c. Emphasize Quality not quantity.

2. Choose a quiet place “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:35‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

3. Gather the resources you will needa. a Bibleb. Notebookc. Songbook

4. Begin with the right attitudesa. Reverence “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

5. Follow a simple plana. Relaxb. Readc. Reflect
