A CAPSTONE PROJECT IS A PASSION PROJECT.

A Capstone Project allows you to demonstrate your interest in learning about a particular topic.

Ideally, your focus would be in an area you are passionate about and anticipate you will be pursuing after graduation.

However, your focus does not necessarily have to relate to your post-secondary pursuits.

Your Capstone Project should be a topic that you are interested in learning more about.

You will be using the Conference Days to work on 3 sections:
1) The Proposal
2) The Process
3) The Presentation
Together, these sections create your Capstone Project

WHAT IS A CAPSTONE SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE?

A Capstone can take many forms: a performance, an event, a product, a research paper, an experience...to name just a few options!
There are so many ways to show what you know!

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE?

Throughout Grade 11 and 12, you will have opportunities to design, assemble, and
present your Capstone Project to an audience to demonstrate personal learning and
achievements.
Your final Capstone Presentation will take place in your Grade 12 year.

HOW MUCH IS THE CAPSTONE PROJECT WORTH?
You will receive a final letter grade upon completing your Capstone and earn 4 credits
towards graduation.

Understand that this is a chance for you to design your own learning - and get credit for it! The topic you explore is YOURS!

As long as you show effort, learning, and a development of skills, there is no right or wrong.

Explore your own passion to learn; honour your curiosity; learn what you want.

Focus on NEW learning and experiences, not what you know already.

Your topic must be important to you -an area of passion, something that excites you!

You don't have to succeed or fully meet your goal. However, you must be able to reflect on the successes and challenges, and your learning and growth along this journey.

Your topic must not have a negative impact or cause harm to you or anyone else.

Your topic must not be unlawful in nature.

You may be inspired by something you've done already, either inside or outside of school. Expand on this!

WHERE DO I BEGIN?

Starting today, you are going to think about what you are truly passionate about,
what excites you.

What is it that you want to explore?
