19th amendment
this amendment granted women suffrage. it was an important step for equality for women.

journalists who exposed the conditions and corruption in society. THis was important as it led to changes in sanitation and overall safety.

preference for native-born people and the desire to limit immigration. nativist movements seeked to prevent cultural change

children's bureau 1912
Issued by President William Taft, it was made to oversee and maintain national standards of child welfare. Today It improves child abuse prevention and foster care.

It was an immigration station where many immigrants could pass through its doors. It was important as it was the first immigration station in the United States.
