Healthy Collaborations With Families Provide

  • A strong supportive link between the home and the school.
  • Background knowledge of child rearing practices at home, family life, environmental culture.
  • An element of trust for the children, which is likely to make the transition from home to school, easier with time
  • A profound avenue for improving children's learning outcomes, as well as, their development.
  • Additional resources for adding diversity to the delivery of the curriculum.
  • ,Greater transparency between the activities that take place at home and at school. This allows for continuity, consistency and understanding.

Collaborations With Communities Can Provide

  • A family is a microcosm of a community. It stands to reason, therefore, that the community is also responsible for raising the child or rather, supporting the school in its efforts to optimize the learning and developmental potential of each child.
  • An increase in awareness of the members of the community and the role(s) that are performed by each.
  • Financial or resource aids for the purchase of or addition to equipment/or materials.
  • Fields Trips as a means of supporting the knowledge base of the children and extending/expanding the content that is presented in the curriculum.
  • An improvement in the school's envitonment.
