Greek pottery
Greek pottery is a way to spread culture. Transportation for food and water. Understand life and way of Ancient Greece. Tell stories from past.

TECHNIQUES FOR GREEK POTTERY

  • Use wire to cut piece
  • Make the form
  • Finish making form to let sit for 5 days
  • Then gets fired
  • After the fire, a glaze can be put onto the piece.
  • It is then fired again

PURPOSES OF GREEK POTTERY

  • Greek pots tell us life about the Athens and Greek cities
  • Different pots have different purposes
  • Pots would be decorated with scans from daily life
  • Greek pottery would make decoration

HOW GREEK POTTERY WAS MADE

  • Pottery is put into form to make model
  • Pottery then dries
  • Clay heats at high temperatures
  • A glaze and further details are put on to the piece
  • Piece is once fired again

Shapes
There are many different shapes, these include Olpe, sieve jugs, ball crater, and volute pots. These are not the only one, all made differently with different purposes.

Greek pottery colors
The Athens invented red figurine techniques. Many pieces remain a orange red color. Some firings Turn Black from the firing of the pot. Some colors stay the same while others change over time.

Greek pottery designs
Designs often have to do with life styles and traditions. One example would be bell krater. These designs often have to with stories from the past.

Vases come in many ways. Styles of vases can have to do with time. Different vases also come from different places.
