APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS

  • Runs from eastern Canada to Alabama.

ROCKY MOUNTAINS

  • Flat, fertile lands that run from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains,
  • A group of mountain ranges lie in the west including the Rocky Mountains.

GREAT PLAINS

  • Flat, fertile plains that run from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains in the west.

HARBORS

  • Coastal plain along the Atlantic Ocean with many harbors for ships.

CANYONS

  • There are also high plateaus and deep canyons.

GREAT PLAINS NATIVE AMERICANS

  • They lived in Teepees,
  • They hunted buffalo abd sometimes ran them off a cliff ( buffalo jump ),
  • They learned to catch and bread horses,
  • They believed in evil spirits and had medicine men to protect them,
  • They painted pictures on buffalo skin.

NORTHWEST COAST

  • They hunted and fished,
  • They made dugout boats with hollowed out cedar trees,
  • They went on great whale hunts,
  • They traded fish, shells, fur, jewelry, masks, baskets, whale products, copper, abd prisoners.

  • They kiced in large adobe cliff houses,
  • They made pottery and wove baskets,
  • They grew corn and beans, the men worked in the feikds and hunted, the women prepared meals on the adobe stove
  • Hunted deer and rabbits used them for food and cloths, later use sheep for food and wool.

EASTERN WOODLANDS

  • They lived in wigwams and teepees,
  • Often lived by rivers and lakes,
  • Grew corn,squash,pumpkins,sunflower seeds, and tobacco,
  • Used brich bark to make baskets,wood bowls,instruments,masks,togs,and boats,
  • Game called Little War similar to La Cross, fished snd hunted bear,deer,rabbits,moose,and ducts.

  • In 1492.

FERDINAND MAGELLAN

  • Led the first expedition around the world,
  • Named the Pacific Ocean because it was so peaceful,

  • The U.S was colonized by European explorers,
  • It was originally 13 colonies,
  • The U.S was formed when it gained Independence from the British.

COLUMBIAN EXCHANGE

  • Triangular trade exchange between Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
  • South America, Central America, and North America.
