HISTORY

• Frist form 1917 from former Russian empire.
• After rebelling against the Tsars four republics were formed.
• They then got together and formed the USSR
• Gradually the USSR expanded to include 20 states

COMMUNIST ENVIRONMENT

• Started as a republic
• Turned to a dictatorship in march of 1990
• Run by a small group while pretending to be a republic

POLITICAL SYSTEM

• all decisions were made by the small group known as the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet
• itself strongly influenced by the Politburo of the CPSU
• who were unanimously approved by the deputies.
• Poltiburo supreme law making body in the Soviet Union

ECOMOMICS

• Completely controlled by government after 1928
• Government took all private property
• Told what to produce, how much, and at what cost/price

FAILURE

• People were not equal small group elevated above all others
• 1989 conflict between central government and individual republics
• Soviet party disbanded in december 1991
• Economic system was highly inefficient, lots of wasted goods
