The thorn insect

Known popularly as "the thorn insect", looks exactly like the thorn of some plants to blend in and survive.

This hemiptero has a size of between 12 and 16 millimeters.

Its color ranges from yellow to green with six red lines.

It feeds on the sap of plants

In terms of reproduction, females lay their eggs inside the new branches of trees and remain with them until they hatch .

The Umbonia can be found in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Guiana, Suriname, Peru and Brazil.
