• Hometown- Autlàn de Navarro, Mexico
• Father was a violinist
• Learned to play guitar at age 8

ADULT HOOD

• When Carlos turned 18 he became a naturalized citizen.
• After playing on the streets he decided to make his music a full time job.
• In 1966 he formed a band called, The Santana blues band.

ACHEIVEMENTS

• One album sold went triple platinum and sold 4 billion copies
• first Grammy for Best instrumental performance
• sold 10 million copies by the early 2000's and a No. 1 hit single
• nominated for 9 categories
• lifetime achievement award
