The Swazi HIV Association For Female Sex Workers
Issue
- Swaziland, Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest HIV prevalence rate.
- 200,000 people live with HIV in Swaziland.
- 11,000 new HIV infections as of 2013.
HIV prevalence is high among female sex workers in Swaziland.
70% of FSW live with HIV.
33% have an average of 6 partners.
Over 60% don't use condoms.
The association to minimize the high rate....
- A local community association of FSW.
- Trained community members and volunteers from other countries to help educate the FSW on the right use of condoms, the right ways to wear them.
First Session
During this session, a healthcare worker would be present to give advice to the FSW. An open forum would be made for them to ask the health care workers questions they have about HIV.
SECOND SESSION
Interactive activities session.
Games, questions and answers games, eating together at tables,video demonstrations, relaxation songs, short plays.
THIRD SESSION
A health care worker present.
Education on treatment plans, preventing the spread of the virus, family planning with "non-commercial" partners.
