1) Fallout Shelter: A nuclear attack was a real fear for many Americans as a result they build underground bunkers to help protect themselves- Fallout shelters were built to protect their families

2) Truman's Fair Deal: As a result of this, minimum wage increased and social security expanded- His Fair Deal stated that each American have insurance

3) Rock and Roll: New music style that had its roots in African American rhythm and blues- Elvis Presley, a famous artist, held the title of King of Rock and Roll

4) Elvis Presley: King of Rock and Roll- Elvis Presley was an American artist who was most famous for his rock and roll

5) The Rosenbergs: Husband and wife who were suspected of heading a USSR spy ring in the USA- Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were accused of spying atomic secrets and techniques

6) Jonas Salk: Created the first polio vaccine (advancements in medicine)- Jonas Edward Salk, an American virologist, made the first polio vaccines

7) 2nd Red Scare: In the 1950s, the fear and paranoia of communism- Julius & Ethel Rosenberg were executed because of the 2nd Red Scare

8) Cold War: Tensions between the USA and USSR that lasted from 1945-1990 that divided the world- The Cold War became a political competition that advanced after World War II

9) Communism: Economic system where everything belongs to the state (gov't)- Communism is a system in which all belongings is public and those work

10) Dwight Eisenhower: President who threatened massive retaliation against China to end the Korean War Conflict- He signed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and dispatched Army troops

11) 24th Amendment: Banned poll taxes in the US- The proper of residents of the USA to vote in any number one or different election for President or Vice President

12) Betty Freidan: Wrote the book Feminine Mystique- Betty Friedan argued that the feminine mystique harm girls each individually and professionally

13)Lyndon B Johnson: Passed more civil rights legislations than any other president- LBJ received passage of a primary tax cut, the Clean Air Act, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964

14) Dolores Huerta: Co-founded the United Farm Workers organization with Cesar Chavez- Dolores Clara Fernández Huerta is an American labor chief and civil rights activist

15) Churches: Much of the African American Civil Rights movement was organized using churches in the South- Churches as well as Christianityplayed a big role during the Civil Rights movement

16) Cuban Missile Crisis: The closest the USSR and USA ever came to nuclear war during the Cold War period- Political and army standoff in October 1962 over the set up of Soviet missiles on Cuba

17) Voting Rights Act 1965: Act that increased voting opportunities for African Americas- Outlawed the discriminatory balloting practices followed in lots of southern states

18) Warren Court: Fought in the courts for African American civil rights- The Warren Court lasted from October 1953 until June 1969

19) Feminine Mystique: Book that sparked the Women's Literation Movement- The Feminine Mystique was written by Betty Freidan

20) UC vs Bakke: Court case that reviewed the policy of affirmative action- The Supreme Court established that a university's use of racial "quotas" in its admissions system
