They lived in the southwest of the country. The climate impacted the way they lived,because it was very dry and there was a lot of sand dunes.
The Navajo couldn’t farm because it was so dry and they couldn’t plant cause they didn’t have enough water the plants that they planted would become dry and they wouldn’t grow.
The sand dunes damaged a lot of homes. The Navajo sometimes had to relocate and it was hard for them cause they moved all around the southwest.
They built homes out of wood, dirt, and sand.Sand dunes were damaging their homes, a lot of communities had to relocate because of the sand dunes.
Sand dunes are covering roads with a ton of sand . Everybody has challenges, like the sand dunes are ruining their homes, and for us in Indiana tornados and lightning storms are ruining our homes, and lightning storms would strike trees, our homes, and many more.
They often ate corn,beans,and squash. Some days they would have success with the farm but others, they would not. They had to work so hard and all of their work would go down the drain. It’s because they couldn’t plant anything because it was so hot!
Men also hunted deer and antelope, and small game. While men are hunting, Meanwhile women gathered fruits,nuts, and herbs.
They believed in making all people happy. They believed loving all people and animals I think this tribe is very compassionate.
They also enjoyed hoop dancing. They would have Competitions,and even little kids did it . I want to learn how to do that! It was one of their traditions . It’s like we have holidays and they have hoop dancing.
They made clothing out of cloth and sometimes animal fur . Some men wore shorts or skirts, and women wore dresses. I think they have a very interesting clothing type because they have very hot weather .
Every band of the Navajo group had a chief, the council got to pick the chief ,although the chief did not make any decisions for the group. The chief was more of the adviser than the chief. The members of the council are also elected . They are the ones that also make the decisions. Then the group would discuss the idea and when they have agreed on the idea. They would share it with the members of the Navajo.
