PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CELL AS A SCHOOL

CELL MEMBRANE

REGULATES WHAT GOES IN AND OUT OF THE CELL
A cell membrane is like a security guard because they both secure the cell/school and they both let things in and out of the cell/school.

CYTOPLASM

SUSPENDS THE ORGANELLES AND FILLS THE CELL
The students fill the school just like the cytoplasm fills the cells.

NUCLEUS

CONTROL CENTER OF THE CELL
The principal controls the school and is the head leader of the school just like a nucleus.

CYTOSKELETON

GIVES CELL SHAPE AND ANCHORS ORGANELLES
The school staff/administration is the cytoskeleton because they keep everything in order and without them the school would fall apart.

SMOOTH ER

MAKES LIPIDS AND VESTICLES
The cafeteria makes food just like the smooth er makes lipids and vesticles.

ROUGH ER

TRANSPORTS PROTEINS
The school bus transports kids to and from school just like the rough er transports proteins.

RIBOSOME

MAKES PROTEINS
Ribosomes are teachers because they produce knowledge to students just like they produce proteins.

GOLGI APPARATUS

MODIFIES, SORTS, AND PACKAGES PROTEINS
The Golgi apparatus is like the buildings of a school because they sort the classrooms in their subjects like it sorts proteins.

VESICLE

TRANSPORTS MATERIALS THROUGHOUT THE CELL
A vesicle moves and transports moves materials in the cell like an elevator moves people.

MITOCHONDRIA

PROVIDES POWER FOR THE CELL
The parents of the students at a school are the mitochondria because they pay the tuition and that keeps the school running. Mitochondria produces power for the cell and keeps it running.

CENTRAL VACUOLE

SAC THAT STORES WATER, FOOD, ENZYMES, AND WASTE
The central vacuole stores waste just like a dumpster stores waste.

LYSOSOME

BREAKS DOWN CELLULAR WASTE
Dumpster trucks take away and break down the trash just like lysosomes break down cellular waste.

CELL WALL

GIVES PROTECTION, SUPPORT AND SHAPE
The cell wall is the same as the walls and fences surrounding a school.

CHLOROPLAST

CARRIES OUT PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND MAKES THE PLANT GREEN
The school library is like the chloroplast of a cell because it provides books full of information just like the chloroplast provides food for the cell.
