ANCIENT EGYPT

Location

Ancient Egypt is located in ancient north eastern africa, connected with the lower parts of the Nile river. The lower parts of the Nile are in the country Egypt.

Mummification

1. First you wash the body with wine and water from the Nile
2. Then take all the organs out and brain witha hook
3) Then stuff the body with linen to give it a human shape
4. Then wrap the entire body with bandages
5. Finally place the mummy in a coffin in its tomb

The Pyramids

The pyramids are ancient pyramid shaped structures that are located in Egypt.
Most of these were build as tombs for the pharoahs during the Old and Middle Kingdoms (2649–2150 B.C.) & (between 2000 BC and 1700 BC). The first known Egyptian pyramids are found at Saqqara, northwest of Memphis.

The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx is a huge stone structure of a creature with a body of a lion and a head of a human.The Great Sphinx is located right next to the pyramids of Giza in Egypt.The Sphinx is considered to be one of the largest single-stone statues in the world.

King Tutankhamun

King Tut was born circa 1341 B.C.E. Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, during the period of the New Kingdom. King Tut was married to Ankhesenamun. King Tut started ruling when he was only 9 years old and died when he was only 19 years old.

Important Gods #1: Bastet

Bastet was the Goddess of Protection of joy, love, pleasure and about to be mothers.
Bastet was just a normal black cat but was very well known.

Important God #2: Anubis

The god Anubis is the God of Mummification.He guided the afterlife the the world of Osiris in the Underworld.He was the one that looked after the mummification proccess.

Important Gods #3: Ra

Ra was the god of the sun.Ra was the most important god he was the god of all gods. He was usually shown with a human body with a falcon head with the sun disc above his head encircled by a sacred cobra.

The Rosetta Stone

The Rosetta Stone is a big black stone that was found in Rosetta in Egypt in 1799.
The Rosetta Stone had writing on it which was answers to three different languages and they were hieorglyphics,demotic,and greek.The Rosetta Stone was originally placed outside of a temple for the Ancient Egyptians to communicate and get information.

Queen Hatshepsut

Queen Hatshepsut was the wife of Thutmose ll. Queen Hatshepsut was the first ever female pharoah who reigned for almost 20 years.ueen Hatshepsut wanted more support from the people so she made her self look like a king ( male ) and people started taking her more seriously. Thustmose ll was Queen Hatshepsut half brother. Queen Hatshepsut only had 1 daughter
Neferure.

Queen Nefertiti

The name Nefertiti means ,a beautiful woman has come.Queen Nefertiti was the queen of Egypt and wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten during the 14th century B.C. Queen Nefertiti was one of the most iconic symbols of Egypt.Some evidence suggests that she was from the town Akhmim and is the daughter or niece of a high official named Ay.

The Great Pyramid

The pyramid is estimated to have around 2,300,000 stone blocks that weigh from 2 to 30 tons each.the four sides of the pyramid are slightly hollow and this is the only pyramid like this.The weight of the pyramid is estimated at 5,955,000 tons.The Great Pyramid is located in Giza , Egypt.

Papyrus

Papyrus is a reed that grows in marshy areas around the Nile river. The egyptians used it to make paper. They peeled of strips of the plant and put it on two layers and then let it dry into a sheet. This papyrus paer was used by scribes and others to write down thing and records.

Hieroglyphics

Hieroglyphics can be written in any direction it just depends on which way the symbols are facing.Just one symbol can mean a wrod or a sound.Learning how to read hieroglyphics was difficult so people who learned and knew it were called scribes. The Rosetta Stone is the key to the answers to the hieroglyphics.

The Old Kingdom

The old kingdom is the first of the so-called Kingdom periods.The Old Kingdom was during the 3rd millennium BC. The Old Kingdom was during the 3rd through 6th dynasties.

The Middle Kingdom

The Middle Kingdom is aloa known as The Period Of Reunification. The Middle Kingdom was between 2000 BC and 1700 BC. This was the period of the 11th and 12th dynasties.

The New Kingdom
The New Kingdom is known as the Egyptian Empire.The new Kingdom was between the 16 century BC and 11th century BC. The New Kingdom had the 18th, 19th, and 12th dynasties of Egypt.

Social Structure

The Highest Point is the Pharoah.
Then are the priests and nobles. Then there are the scribes. Then are the artisans and craftspeople. Then are the farmers and workers. All the way on the bottom are the slaves and servants.
