PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The Beginning of the roaring 20s prohibition began which was banning production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages. The government thought that doing this would make the country less violent and better. They were also trying to end the trade in alcoholic beverages.
Next the U.S. tried to ratify the Treaty of Versailles and failed. The U.S. didn’t want to join the League of Nations because they believed the League of Nations would suck them into wars they didn’t want to be apart of. This reason caused the ratification to fail
November 9, 1921 the government passed the Federal Aid Highway Act was passed. Cars were now in use so they decided to build a highway system to make it easier and faster to travel. This Act led to the nations future highways and roads.
November 23, 1921 The Sheppard - Towner Act was passed. This Act was passed to try and improve the welfare for maternity and child care. They created it because of the lack of care for women and children.
In 1922 the Fordney-McCumber Tariff was passed. It was a law that was passed to raise taxes on imported goods to protect factories and farms. It also gave huge loans to Europe giving us more foreign trade which gave us more goods.
In 1926 the Harlem Renaissance Began. It was an African American movement across urban areas in the northeast and Midwest United States. Harlem which is usually just a wealthy white neighborhood, now had African Americans.
In 1929 the Stock Market Crash happened. It was the most devastating crash in the history of the U.S. It was the cause of Great Depression and very tough times in the future.
