WHAT IS ORIGAMI?

  • Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into different shapes and animals.
  • Ori means fold and gami means paper.

WHO INVENTED ORIGAMI?

  • No one really knows who invented origami.
  • In 105 AD Ts'ia - Lun was one of first recorded people to fold paper.

THE LARGEST ORIGAMI CRANE

  • The largest origami crane is 215 feet long and weighs 1750 pounds.
  • The crane had to be built inside of a football stadium.
  • The crane was built for Wings for Peace.

SMALLEST ORIGAMI CRANE

  • The smallest crane is 0.1 by 0.1 millimeters.
  • Mr. Naito was the one who folded it. He had to use tweezers and microscopes to fold it.

THE LARGEST ORIGAMI TRAIN

  • The longest train was built by a man named David Brill and the British Origami Society.
  • The paper train had 1,150 paper train cars.
  • The train was also 254 meters long.
