  • Common in Ethiopia and most 3rd world countries.
  • Most common in ages 15-25.
  • 12 million known cases worldwide.
  • 28,998 known cases in Minnesota.
  • Most common in men who have sex with other men.

Contracted by anal, oral, vaginal sex and also Pregnancy, labor, and breastfeeding

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

  • Sores on genitals
  • Wet ulcers
  • Rash on body
  • Can last 2-6 weeks.

Affects
Paralysis, blindness, insanity, aneurysm, tumors, and eventually death if left untreated.

HOW IT AFFECTS PREGNANCY

  • Still birth
  • Death soon after birth
  • Physical deformities
  • Neurological complications
  • Sterility

CURE

ANTIBIOTICS SUCH AS PENICILLIN
