History of Chile

-North Americans had settled at the coast & valley's about 10,000 years ago.
-These people can be divided into three cultural groups: pre-Incan culture, Patagonian, and Aracanian.

-In 1537, Diego de Almagro had organized an expedition, that lead him to central Chile; He found this area to be poor and returned to Peru.
In juxtaposition to is, Captain of the Army, Pedro de Valdiva found potential in the Southern lands, conquered and invaded it. (February 12 1541)

-The Chilean War of Independence from Spain began September 18, 1810, and the last Spanish troops had surrendered in 1826.

-Through time, Chile was a Constitutional organization (1818-1833), Conservative (1830-1861), Liberal (1861-1891), Parliamentary (1891-1925), Presidential (1925-1974), a Dictatorship (1973-1990), and finally became Democratic (1990-now)

FOODS OF CHILE

-Chilean cuisine stems mainly from the combinations of traditional Spanish culture, Chilean Native culture, and local ingredients, with later influences from other European cuisines. Particularly from Italy, Germany, and France.

-There are many famous foods, including Asado Chileno, Paila Marina, Almeias ala Parmegana, and caldillo de congrio.

-Asado Chileno was made using different meats including: sausage, chicken, and steaks. This is accompanied by Chilean salad: a tomato and onion dish.

-Major crops: choclo, chirimeya, cochayuyo, and avocado. Some seafood foods include: chorita, pyura chilensis, picorocos and clams. Famous drinks include Borgona, Chicha, Chilean Picosour, and Mote con nuesillo.

ECONOMY

-Currency: Chilean Peso is the currency
worth .0016¢ (in Us Currency).

-Resources: Exports include Abundance of copper, Nitrace, and timber. Imports include aircrafts and soy beans.

-Vegetation: Cacti, grass, Chilean pine, conifer, and trees.

-Employment: Health workers, teachers, and some transportation and communication jobs.
There are many in the work area of agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, and manufacturing.

-Climates: Deserts, semi-aria, Mediterranean, humid sub tropical, temperate oceanic, sub polar oceanic, Alpine, tundra, and ice cap.

ART

-Art: During the 18th century, pre-Colombian art, and the eclecticism of the period of the traveling artists was lost. Influences on their art were: Jesuits, Qulto School, and Europeans.

-Religon: The majority of Chileans belong to the Catholic Church, which is an estimated 59%. 16% are Protestant, and 3% are other religions. An average of 22% are Agnostic and Atheist.

-Dance: The main dance in Chile is called the Cueca- which is mainly danced in the countryside. They are preformed during National holidays, and tournaments.

-Music: The Northern Chilean Polk Music instruments are: Quenas, Zamponas, and Charagos. Influenced by the Incan Empire. The central Chilean musical instruments are: acoustic guitars, tormentos, harp and pandeios. Influenced by Europe. The Southern Chilean Musical instruments are: the Rebec, a catchet, an accordion, and the violin: an influence of Germany.
