BACKROUND

  • Thomas More was born on February 7, 1478
  • He was born and lived in London, on Milk Street
  • He was a layer, a saint, a journalist, and a philosopher
  • He worked as a barrister in 1501
  • He studied law and legal studies

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 1516- His book "Utopia" is published
  • His book describes an ideal social world
  • 400 years after his death, he was canonized in the Catholic Church
  • In 1523, he was elected speaker of parliament.
  • In 1935, he became a saint

BELIEFS FEELINGS AND IDEAS

  • Believed that all girls should be educated
  • He supported and contributed to the development of freedom of speech
  • He believed that he promoted himself to the exalted position of chancellor
  • Based on his beliefs, he wrote a book on "the perfect world", called Utopia
