Rockets

BY: Jayden Heinsohn

When was it created?

  • The rocket was created around 1100 A.D.

What was the purpose of the rocket?

  • The rocket was mainly used as fireworks or as a weapon during war. It was also used to repel the Mongolian army by shooting arrows. The Mongolian army wanted to capture China so this was the best way to fight against them because arrows can shoot far which allowed the Chinese to stay where they were and just fire at the Mongolians.

How did it work?

  • There was a barrel filled with gunpowder, arrows, and arrow barrels. They mixed well with each other. Someone would light the arrows because they were very flammable and the pressure inside the barrel made it shoot up, after that arrows would fall from the sky.

How did it affect Ancient China?

  • It affected the lives of ancient China because this was one of the best ways to fight because there were lots of fighting and war so the Chinese needed a way to protect themselves. Rockets were very efficient and worked very well.

How has it changed since it was invented?

  • Rockets have evolved so much since they were created. They are no longer small barrels that use gunpowder to shoot into the sky. They are now huge rocket vehicles that are capable of traveling into space. They weigh a lot more and have lots of propellants to shoot into the sky.

How does it affect life today?

  • Rockets affect life today because people now go onto the moon because of the small invention created in China years ago. The technology today allows all of this. People added things to the rocket. Instead of using gunpowder they use rocket fuel which is more advanced than gunpowder because it is harder to make but works better.
