Our United States government has three branches that separate and distribute power.

LEGISLATIVE

The legislative branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Their main job is to make the laws. They also declare war, conduct impeachment of officials, and confirm judges and other public officials.

EXECUTIVE

The executive branch is ran by the President.

The main job of this branch is to execute or enforce the laws. The president has the power to sign or veto bills passed by the legislative, command the military, and nominate judges and other government officials.

JUDICIAL

The judicial branch consists of the courts. The Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. There are nine justices on this court.

The job of this branch is to interpret the law. By doing so, they have the ability to declare laws unconstitutional through judicial review.
