Have the students look at the photo. Give students a few minutes to write down what they think the person is thinking about. Then have volunteers share their ideas. Ask: Do you ever feel like this? What do you do when you are stressed? There are many ways to cope with stress.

Exercise can help make stress go away.

When you are nervous, angry, or upset, release the pressure through exercise or physical activity.
What kinds of physical activity help you when you are stressed? How do you feel afterwards?
Physical exercise will relieve that up-tight feeling, relax you, and turn frowns into smiles.

Rest and eating well can help, too.

How can getting enough sleep and eating well help?
If you are rested and eat well, you are less irritable. You can think better and handle problems better.

TALKING TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY CAN ALSO HELP.

Talking to friends and family can also help.
When you feel stress who do you like to talk with?
How can talking to someone help?
Another person may help you think of a solution you did not see. Knowing when to ask for help may avoid more serious problems later.

Sometimes crying can help stress go away.

A good cry can be a healthy way to bring relief to your anxiety.
Why shouldn't people be embarrassed by crying? Crying releases harmful stress and may prevent headaches.

you can actually make it work for you instead of against you.

If you don't let stress get out of control,
For a while, tune out your worries about time, productivity and doing right. Focus on relaxation, enjoyment and health.
