LOCATION

  • They lived in Peru,Argentina,North Ecuador and Chile.
  • Their empire stretched 2400 miles from north to south.

CLIMATE

  • The Incas were up in the mountains so it was pretty cold, but it was also warm sometimes.

WHEN THEY THRIVED

  • 1438 -1532, when the Inca ruler and his army began conquering the land around the inca mainland until Spain invaded in 1532.

PHISICAL FEATURES

  • They were great builders.
  • The population was six - twelve million people.

INCA FOOD

  • Crops included cocoa, other beans, grain and much, much more.
  • They hunted wild forest game like deer and moose.

HOMES

  • The Inca homes were small and made out of stone.
  • The houses usually are one room and one entrance.

  • A lot of red and other colors like green,yellow, blue,black,and pink.
  • A lot of shalls.

DAILY LIFE and family roles

  • Only the royal family went to school.
  • Other kids learned how to farm, cook, clean, sew and run a household like their parents.

Incan Language

  • They used a thing called a quipu, a collection of dyed and twisted wool in the form of strings.
  • This system of language is at least 1200years old.

Values and Beliefs

  • The Incas' center of their religion was the sun god Into.
  • They sacrificed many children on the mountain tops in tombs of ice to get close to him.
  • Over 30 mountain tops in the Andes have burial sites on them.

Inventions

  • They loved music, they created the drums and other kinds of great musical instruments.
  • They built pyramids and used them as temples and build bridges and used them as traps.

Defense

  • The only defense Incas had was their army,but their army was very powerful with over 10,000 men!
