SHOULD THE DEATH PENALTY BE BANNED IN THE U.S?

  • The U.S should not be banned
  • The U.S should not ban the death penalty because the penalties should be based on crime, victims need closure, and criminals will be scared to do or repeat the crime.

PENALTIES SHOULD BE BASED ON THE CRIME

  • Stated in the 5th amendment it says " No person should be deprived of life without due process of law."

VICTIMS NEED CLOSURE

  • Healing is a process not an event.
  • But executing the criminal is the first step to recover.

MAKE CRIMINALS MORE FEARFUL TO COMMIT CRIMES

  • People are most honest when they stand in the face of death.
  • For every inmate executed, seven lives were spared.

COUNTERCLAIMS

  • Death penalty is no more a deterrent than life in prison.
  • Death penalty is like reliving their pain of loved one's murder.
