Mark Zuckerberg, American computer programmer, Internet entrepreneur, and philanthropist, was born May 14th, 1984, in New York to Edward and Karen Zuckerberg. At just twelve years old Zuckerberg used Atari BASIC to make a messaging program that he called Zucknet. His father had his dental practice attached to the Zuckerberg home and later used Zucknet in his office to communicate with the receptionists. The Zuckerberg family of 6 also used Zucknet in their home to communicate with each other easier. On his free time, Mark and his friends would create computer games, the friends would draw characters and Mark would would build the the programs for them.

To help Mark with his progressing hobbie his parents hired a tutor to work with mark. David Newman, the tutor, said it was hard to teach the already “prodigy born computer genius”.While still in high school Mark created a Pandora like music player called Synapse. AOL and Microsoft offered to hire Mark before he even graduated as a result, but he denied the offer. Mark then went off to Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard University, but never earned degrees.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Mark Zuckerberg is most commonly known for being the founder of Facebook but he has also founded Internet.org, Wirehog, and Platform Beacon and Connect. Wirehog is a program that was first linked through Facebook where students can use to swap files directly from peer to peer. Internet.org is a site to initiate the spread of Internet to those who are not able to have it to keep them in touch with the world. Platform Beacon and Connect were programs inside to Facebook to help programs develop social applications, share information and suggestions based on other users activities online, and used to connect Facebook friends together on other social media sites and games like Instagram and words with friends.

WHAT I LEARNED

I have learned from Mark Zuckerberg to not let anyone get in the ways of my dreams. He had been given offers by various companies, organizations, and individuals to buy Facebook. He stood proud and said no because he wanted his creation to be how he dreamed it would be. He wanted his sites and programs to be the best they could be for the world's individuals, he didn't want that humanity to run over by a big corporation.
