PRESENTATION OUTLINE
We started by planning the narrative of the whole film , "Decrypted". We then decided which shots from the film would be shown in the trailer, and began planning the trailer, starting from the beginning, drawing out ideas as we go.
We drew almost double the amount of shots we actually used in the storyboard, so we could see which shots worked best and were the most appropriate for the trailer, making sure we used semantic elements in our trailer that would make the audience aware of the horror genre, thinking about mise en scene such as blood and gags, as well as sound such as jumps.
We drew all the shots and put them in order. We planned to have many fast shots towards the climax of a trailer, as this is a typical horror trailer convention. We had all the shots however we did not know what order to put them in. We experimented with different orders of these shots to see how to build tension as it reaches the climax of the trailer.
When we felt our storyboard was complete, we took photographs of each of the shots to make them into an animatic of our trailer.
We would later find out that some of the shots we chose lacked context after we actually filmed them and the order of the shots changed dramatically as we began creating our trailer so our product was the typical trailer structure.
