Formation

  • In 1957, John Lennon formed "The Quarrymen"
  • After several lineup changes, became "The Beatles"
  • They were unsatisfied with their drummer, Pete Best, and
  • hired Ringo instead, forming the most famous Beatles lineup

Popularity and songs

  • They were first popular in Hamburg, and spread to Liverpool
  • Popularity expanded to across the UK in just a few years
  • Afterwards, they crossed over to the US
  • Popular songs include "Love Me Do," "Ticket to Ride"
  • "A Day in the Life," and "Hey Jude."

British invasion

  • Capitol Records hindered their fame by refusing their music, then
  • Negotiations with Swan and Vee-Jay helped them publish
  • Royalties and publishing rights became an obstacle again
  • WGH-AM the radio station played their music, extremely pop.
  • Arrived in us 1964 and popularity boomed
