Poe was born in 1809, and three years later both of his parents died and he went to live with John Allen, who was slightly neglectful, but Poe still attended the best schools available in Virginia where he lived.
He first wrote a poetry collection in 1827, and it went basically unnoticed. He wrote a second collection and it got hardly any attention, although it got more than his first.
he wrote his third collection after getting himself dismissed from West Point.
eventually Poe’s short stories gained traction when they appeared in the Philadelphia Saturday courier. He also became the editor of a few different And although his career started gaining attention in the late 1830s and early 1840s, he still didn’t receive much money.
Myseriously, poe was found in a state of semi consciousness and died four days after. He wasn’t able to explain what had happened in his last days, so his cause of death is unknown.

The Raven

Edgar Allan Poe’s greatest work was undoubtedly the poem The Raven, written late in his career in 1845 about a night where the main character is napping in their chamber -which I’m assuming means bedroom- and a raven taps on the door. The story proceeds, and the man and the raven talk, except all the bird says is “Nevermore”
In his work the philosophy of composition, Poe explains his inspiration behind the raven. He says that he was thinking of what was the saddest thing to humans in general, and thought of death.
And then he stated that he tried to find a poetic way to speak of death. He says, when it most closely allies itself to beauty: the death then of a beautiful woman is unquestionably the most poetical topic in the world.”
and so, he came out of it with a man mourning his dead mistress and a raven monotonously saying the word nevermore.

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!

G Edgar Allan Poe was One of The most important and influential writers of the 19th century
First author to make a living from writing.
He also was one of the pioneers of dectective fiction, crime fiction, and the short story.

Because Edgar Allan Poe writes poems, I had the opportunity to be able to read the Raven while I was putting together my presentation. I sometimes write poems myself, but they’re nothing like 5e types of poems that he wrote. His poems have deep metaphors and symbols that I could only dream to be able to write about. Additionally, the English language was a lot different and more poetic back then, and his old English adds a sort of (vintage) feel.

In conclusion, edgar Allan Poe was a very influential writer, and students today study him for a reason. and while the raven was his most famous work, he had lots of other works that maybe you or I could discover in our own free time. Thanks.
