The article a de dimite ranking of sins by Jack WilkieTh The Article; “a definite ranking of sins” by Jack Wilkie, offers the answer of how all sins lead to death. No matter how big of a sin it might be, compared to one that may not be seen as too important it will still lead to death. This source talks about how every sin has a different consequence in this life but even if the consequences on this earth seem small, it doesn't mean that the sin is less bad. People's judgments are not accurate or even correct to how God will judge you. We shouldnt live by our standard or other people's standards but live according to Gods, because he is the true judge.
Ranking sins has affected religion, and relational problems.

Religion: The Bible tells us that there is no such a thing as a definitive ranking of sins, all of our sin was crucified at the cross, which the Bible says in (Romans 6:23). Even though we as people tend to judge others by their sin and determine how good of a person they are based off of their sin.
In Luke 18 the Bible shows that we should not be like the man who said thank you God I am not like this man. But we need to realize that all sin leads to death and that one is not less than the other. We don’t want to end up fooling ourselves that we’re better than someone else just because of someone else’s sin.

Relational: sometimes people can sins as small or big, rarely do they see them as equal. They’re equal because all sins lead to death. The truth is, we often do have an arbitrary hierarchy of sins, typically so we can look at the first few listed and say “Well, at least I don’t struggle with THAT” and feel better about ourselves” (Wilkie 3). This can affect us in a negative way because we don’t realize that no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes, everyone has sin. So instead of trying to feel better about ourselves by putting someone else down, we should stop comparing ourselves to other people sin.

Conclusion: In conclusion ranking sins mentioned in the novel “The Scarlet Letter” is dangerous because it makes others believe that they’re sin is okay because they compare it to other peoples sin. But sin is equal to death so all sins are equal that way, and we should stop ranking sins.
