El Salvador , with other countries of Central America declared its independence from Spain.

El Salvador, with other countries, declared its independence on September 15, 1821
Dissolved in 1838
Became an independent republic
Went their separate ways (became their own country)

In1932 there was a peasant uprising

The government retaliated with a massive murder
Called the "Matanza"
Up till 1980 there were military dictators
