What I have learned in this course:

  • Learning Theories
  • Instructional Design Models
  • Industry Standards of Instructional Design
  • Multimedia Tools

Learning Theories

  • Behavioral Learning
  • Cognitive Information Processing
  • Schema and Cognitive Load
  • Situated Learning
  • Constructivism
  • Connectivism
  • *Reiser, R.A. and Dempsey, J.V. (2018). Trends and issues in instructional design and technology. (4th ed.) Boston: Pearson.

Learning Theories: Now that I understand the different learning theories, I feel better equipped to develop the type of curriculum and courses that will be diverse enough for all types of learners.

Instructional Design Models

  • ADDIE = Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement & Evaluate
  • SAM = Successive Approximation Model
  • Pebble-in-the-Pond

Instructional Design Models:
Going forward, I feel better equipped when designing courses because I do not feel like I need to rely on the ADDIE model alone which can be a meticulously slow process and can lose sight of the learner experience.

Industry Standards of Instructional Design:
From this point on, I can use these standards to constantly improve on any curriculum or course that I create.
