Do's and Don'ts

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

1. Smile – greet people with a smile on your face, even if you don’t know them. Common greeting: “Good morning or good afternoon! How are you?”

2. Always say “Please” and “Thank you.” If you want anything, or if you can’t understand something, start by saying “excuse me”.

3. If you make a mistake, say “sorry.” If someone asks you something, and you cannot do it, apologize saying “I’m sorry I can’t ….” Or “I’m afraid I don’t know…”

4. Keep your distance. Be aware of other people’s personal space.

5. Show interest in other people. Don’t talk about yourself unless you are asked to do so.

6. Don’t ask personal questions about money, age, weight...etc.

7. Don’t speak too loudly in public places.

8. Stand in line. Don’t crowd around or try to sneak in.

9. Hold the door.

10. If you are using the escalator, and you are not in a hurry, stay on the right side. If you are in a hurry, use the left side. The left side is always for people who want to walk or move, not stand.
