Learning for all

Each student is an INDIVIDUAL with different needs and personalities!
As the document below states, education is moving away from teacher to students approach and inches closer to viewing each students as an individual.

Such approach empowers students allows them to have control over their own learning experience.

Out of the 4 point on page 33 I like the first one the most: see the student as a whole person. Through respect will I be able to successfully teach the student something new and receive positive feedback.

Importance of Learning profiles

  • Allows for a creation of engaging lessons
  • Easier to address the needs of students allowing for the healthy progress
  • Allows for successful creations of the Three-Dimentional Lessons
Learning Profiles allow teachers to better address the needs of their students thus allowing for them to progress at a steady rate.

These profiles are created through observations, surveys and interactions between the teacher-teacher; teacher-students; teacher-parents

In order to hit most if not all of the needs the teacher has to include various instructions and experiences in his/her lesson (ex. visuals, manipulative, auditory, etc.)

Students that:

  • Students that are very self-conscious and tend to fall short in class due to this; unappreciated/discouraged students that tend to put little effort into their work; do very well in sports and other extra curricular activities, but need help with academics; Excel in one subject but strugle in another
  • And many many more...
These are some of the most common types of students that I have encountered in my career as a teacher. I do my best to make sure that each of them feel welcomed and not discouraged by providing positive feedback and engaging them in the class lessons. I try to put as many different experiences and activities in my lessons so that they have a good chance to excel at something each day.

Out of all the animals that were shown in the video I identify myself the best with zebra

I identify myself with zebra the most because of my immigrant past. Once I arrived in Canada I went to grade 6. My explicit accent and lack of English made me stand out amongst the students and impaired my social skills. This inevitably had an impact on my performance at school for some time.
