What is the problem?
Coral reefs are being destroyed. This is very bad since coral reefs are important to the environment and people.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT ABOUT CORAL REEFS?

  • Coral reefs are home to the most species out of all marine ecosystems.
  • Some organisms in coral reefs produce chemicals that can be used to make medicines

Ways to Prevent coral reef destruction

  • If we used cleaner energy sources coral bleaching would not happen as often.
  • Banning blast fishing can save coral reefs from explosions.
  • proper disposal of trash near water.

WAYS HMS CAN HELP prevent coral bleaching

  • HMS could have a day where it goes around the school as teams( Olympus, Raya, Monsoon etc.) and pick up trash.
  • HMS can have a field trip where we go around and plant trees near water. Trees reduce water run off. They also contribute to reversing the affects of global warming.
  • HMS can also hang posters on poles and street lamps to raise awareness in the community.
