How Often Does it Occur
Clubfoot is a fairly common birth defect and is usually an isolated problem for an otherwise healthy newborn.

Prevention
Because doctors don't know what causes clubfoot, you can't completely prevent it. But, you can limit your chances of having your child receive this defect by not smoking, avoiding alcohol and not using drugs your doctor hasn't recommended.

Life Span
Club foot typically doesn't affect a child if it's treated, it may just slightly decrease their mobility. However, if left untreated, it can cause arthritis, poor self image, inability to walk normally, and/or muscle development problems.

Treatments
Club foot can be treated through surgery, the Ponseti method, or the French method.
