PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
STAR FORMATION
2.
INTERSTELLAR CLOUD
The name given to a region of space that is denser than average.
This is where stars are formed.
3.
CLOUD FRAGMENT
A small section of an interstellar cloud.
Gets smaller and smaller while the core gets denser and denser.
The core slowly heats up over time.
A proto star forms in the center.
4.
PROTO STAR
Earliest stage of an actual star.
Has considerably shrunk in size and grown in density.
Very high luminosity.
The "jets" are matter being shot out at close to the speed of light on the axis of rotation.
5.
MAIN SEQUENCÉ
Where our sun and most stars are at.
The star is at solar equilibrium.
It takes about 40-50 million to reach the main sequence.
Interior temperature is about 15,000,000K.
