Question: will vinegar and warm water help preserve the flower?

The Hypothesis is if vinegar does not help preserve the flower then the flowers will die because vinegar has a side effect to harm or danger the flowers.

PROCEDURE

  • First I got about 16 flowers that are cut to the same size to put in each cup there are four cups
  • Next I put the same amount of vinegar in two cups about 2 tablespoons
  • Next I put half a cup filled with just warm water in the other two cups
  • Next I gave each flower the same amount of plant food needed
  • After that I take a picture of each flower cup everyday to notice the changes on what happened and also measure the flowers on the first day then record it and do it everyday to notice the change of the size

DAY 7

DAY 7

DATA

  • Day 1
  • Flowers seemed normal was the same height and smelled fine in the experimental for the control group also looked the same both flowers measured about 10 inches
  • Day 3 flowers were starting to smell bad in the experimental group, but the control group was still the same size and everything.
  • Day 7 the experimental group looked dead many petals were falling it smelled bad it got shorter while the Control looked bad, but not many petals were falling it got slightly shorter but it looked as if it was almost decomposing experimental group was about 7 inches and the Control Group was about 8 1/2

ANALYSIS

  • What major differences seen in the flowers was how the white vinegar had made the flower looked decomposed dead, but the control group looked nearly dead the experimental group may have been like this because the white vinegar kills bacteria and may have killed a lot of bacteria what I thought what would happen was the flowers with the white vinegar was going to look better and last longer, but it was actually the Control Group that lasted longer. The vinegar might have harmed the flowers by killing a lot of bacteria

In conclusion, the experiment went well, but it seemed that the vinegar was harming the flower instead of helping it because the vinegar might have killed more than the bad bacteria while the control group seemed to last longer
