PERSONAL VALUES

BTTER ABILITIES + MORE POWER=HIGH SOCIAL STATUS
People lived in the society are evaluated by the common standard that tells how valuable the person is to the society. One of the most important reason that people are divided into different classes is because they have different level of abilities. The person who has more ability and power usually regarded as the one who help develop the society most. It determines that he is able to be in the higher class than other. For the modern society, there has to have someone step out and lead others. It makes people unequal.

SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE

SOCIETY'S STABILITY
Berberoglu and Berch suggest that the stratification and inequality is unavoidable to occur in the human society because they help the society works smoothly and successful. If every single unit has equal importance, the society would work as a whole. After that, any parts of the society's change will lead to the fluctuation of the entire society. It shows that the most important function of stratification and inequality is to make the society much more stable. It's necessary for people to be divided into different classes.

PIGS

ANIMAL FARM
The author George Orwell makes the Animal Farm a epitome of the real society. The top class of the farm, pigs, and the change of the Animal Farm from the beginning to the end show the unavoidable of stratification and inequality obviously. Pigs became the leader of the farm because of their intelligence after they forced Mr.Jones and his men away. They enjoy better condition than any other animals only because they have the top position. Also, at the beginning, animals decided to live equally, but pigs started to be with humans and made other animals as lower classes at the end as they were communicating with Mr. Pilkington. The change of pigs shows that the stratification and inequality are necessary for a society. Animals have to be divided into different classes if they want to manage the farm by themselves.

ACCEPT THE STATUS AND DEVELOP ABILITIES

The stratification and inequality of the society are the things that we cannot change. Because the society has to keep its stability, people are determined not to live equally. We should not rise up and fight against it if it's right and good for our society. The only thing that we can do is to keep calm and develop our own abilities. The people with better abilities always have higher status. So the only way for us to have a better life is to work harder and make ourselves better. Accept those cannot be changed by us and work on those we can change by ourselves.
