SIYAM

• Siyam means fasting.
• It tells Muslims to fast or go without food for an entire month during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
• Muslims will fast during the daylight hours, but once the sun sets, they will eat.
• Pregnant women, travelers, the sick, the elderly, and young children do not have to fast.
• Fasting teaches Muslims self-control and what it's like to be poor and hungry.
