EARLY CIVILIZATION IN INDIA

  • India- is a land of diversity, about 18 languages are spoken in india.
  • Early Civilization in india emerged in river valley. Between 3000 B.C. and 1500 B.C., the valleys of the Indus River supported a flourishing civilization. Archeologist have found the remains of more than a thousand settlements in this region.
  • Two of the ruins, about 400 miles apart, were sites of what once were the cities of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro.

EARLY CIVILIZATION IN INDIA

  • Aryans, moved south across the Hindu Kush mountain range into the plains of northern India.
  • The Aryans believed that society was divided into four varnas, or social groups.
  • The Mauryan Empire Aśoka, who ruled from 269 B.C. until 232 B.C. Aśoka is considered to be the greatest ruler in the history of India
  • In the sixth century B.C., a new doctrine, called Buddhism, appeared in northern India.
  • Buddhism was the product of one man, Siddhārtha Gautama.

INDIA AND CHINA

  • Hinduism had its origins in the religious beliefs of the Aryan peoples who settled in India.
