PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Energy

and its importance to life

Energy is vital for

  • Cellular Respiration
  • Storage of Energy
  • Photosynthesis
  • Active Transport

Chemical Reactions

  • Exothermic reactions release energy.
  • Endothermic reactions require energy to occur.
  • Kinetic energy or potential energy are direct products.
  • Chemical Evolution: the leading theory to the origin of life.
  • C.E.>Molecules binding together to form complex compounds.

Photosynthesis

  • Is the process of converting light energy to chemical energy
  • Chemical reaction :6CO2 + 6H2O (+ light energy) → C6H12O6 + 6O2
  • The two reactions that occur are light dependent and light independent
  • It's main objective is to produce Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)

Cellular Respiration

  • Cellular respiration provides energy for living organisms.
  • Necessary function to maintain life
  •  Our ability to think, walk, and talk require enormous amounts of energy.
  • It is provided by aerobic respiration, Kreb's cycle, and ETC.

Active Transport
-Cells use energy to transport from low to high concentration.
-In order to maintain proper balance of ions and molecules.

-Proteins play a big role in active transport.
-Proteins are pumping ions in & out in order to prepare the membrane to transmit electric impulses.
