HABITAT FRAGMENTATION

  • Habitat fragmentation is when an ecosystem is separated into small pieces of land.
  • An example of this would be a high way being built through the middle of a forest causing the plants and animals to live around that. Such as the deer population here around our roads and buildings.
  • Causes of habitat fragmentation is human activities and natural processes.
  • Effects of habitat fragmentation is edge effects in ecosystems. This causes animals to live in places where they can be hurt.
  • Animals and plants of an ecosystem end having to adapt to a new place or die out.

C: ACID PRECIPITATION

  • Acid precipitation is a form of pollution which happens when fossil fuels are burned and released into the atmosphere causing it to react with water and other substances, then falls to the Earth as rain.
  • The cause of this is fossil fuels being released into the atmosphere such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide.
  • An example of this would be a statue washed away over a long period time or plants dying out from lack of clean water.
  • Effects of acid precipitation is the dying out of fish in lakes or streams and the dying out a plants because of contaminated soil.

A: OVEREXPLOITATION

  • Overexploitation is the excessive use of a species.
  • An example of this would be killing tigers or rhinos for their body parts causing them to become endangered.
  • The cause of overexploitation is the need for food, fur, medicine and many other things.
  • The effect of overexploitation is a species becoming endangered or extinct.
  • Overexploitation is a very bad for our earth because it is taking away plants and animals and using them up for things we sometimes don't need; such as clothing or selling the products for money.
