BACKGROUND INFO

  • The actual name for PCP is Phencyclidine
  • PCP is a drug for mind-altering affects.

The drug PCP was first found in 1926 by Parke, Davis and company. Then later in the 1950s the drug was used mainly for a anesthetic for humans and even used for veterinary to tranquilize. In the mid 1960s the drug was stopped being used because it revealed patients had delusions, very bad anxiety, and agitation when the effects wore off.

SYMPTOMS OF PCP

  • Some symptoms can be hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, numbness, amnesia, slurred speech, immobility, high blood pressure, senses of invulnerability, and rapid involuntary eye movements.

HOW SOMEONE ACTS ON PCP

  • The person stutters, depressed, anxiety, isolation, suicidal thoughts, and impaired memory which means weakened or damaged memory.

DANGERS OF USING PCP

  • Someone who takes the drug PCP has severe anxiety, paranoia, and flashbacks. This drug can also cause severe low blood pressure if it is mixed with other drugs. A life threatening symptom that can happen is a coma, or death.

The drug when someone takes it can hurt themselves and others around them. This happens because PCP when someone takes the drug, and then stop taking the drug after a while doing the drug, they get anxiety and get suicidal thought. It is hard for other people because they have to experience how hard it is for the person in the drug. The drug can possibly get the person who takes the drug dead, or someone else.

NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS.

  • If someone takes the drug for a long time, then the effects ca be disabling. The person can experience memory loss and difficulty of thinking and speaking clear. They can isolate themselves from talking and seeing other people and can become very depressed. The person who takes the drug can get very violent and probably wont stop till people are dead or until they are dead because the drug makes them lose the sense of pain.

I was unable to find exact data on what the life expectancy is for someone on PCP. But it is extremely addictive and deadly so I wouldn’t expect it to be a long life.

HOW PREVALENT THE DRUG IS

  • At least 6 million people used PCP that were 12 and older.
  • 225,000 people ages 12-17 used PCP
  • 777,000 people aged 18-25 used PCP.

I don’t know if PCP is used in King Salmon or Naknek. I haven’t seen or heard of anyone who has it.

I don’t think people use this drug on purpose. PCP can be coated on weed or cigarettes and given to someone who had no clue about it being coated with PCP. I also think people use this drug to just have fun or sometimes to act cool or has been peer pressured into doing PCP.

Something that could be happening or lacking in someone life to lead them into doing any drug is someone that has recently passed away or being peer pressured into doing something they don’t want to. They person could be doing nay drug for any reason. They could be doing it for fun, or they just want to try and forget someone they lost.

We can help someone who is talking PCP by trying to help them lean off the drug. We can be there for them and try and help them to realize that they are ruining their body. If we do this we would have to be careful because some one can end up severely depressed or have bad anxiety. This drug is very very addictive, so it might take some time.

We could prevent the drug use in this town by trying to help anyone who is taking the drug. If they don’t want help we can always hold a public event on illegal drugs and show them how bad the drug is for someone and for the people around them can be.
