Characteristics-Lions look like big cats and are fury, tan, brown,with some black.Male lions have lots of fur on their head and have manes.Female lions don't have that much hair on their on their heads and have no manes.The only species of lions are the Panthera leo but there are subspecies.
Habitats-lions live in the savanna biome.They live with in grassland with shrubs and isolated trees.Lions also prefer open plains, woodlands, thick bush and semi desert.
Food-Lions usually hunt at night. Their prey includes antelopes, buffaloes, zebras, young elephants, rhinos, hippos, wild hogs, crocodiles and giraffes. But they also sometimes eat smaller prey like mice, birds, hares, lizards, and tortoises.Lions are predators.

Adaptation-lion's archetypal roar is used to communicate with other group members and warn intruders of territorial boundaries.
Long, retractable claws help the lion to grab and hold prey.
The species' rough tongue helps it to peel the skin of prey animals away from flesh and flesh away from bone.
