CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

  • The organ system that moves blood through the body (also known as the cardiovascular system)

HEART

  • The muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body

ATRIUM

  • An upper chamber of the human heart
  • There are two.One on the left side and one on the right side.

VENTRICLE

  • A lower chamber of the human heart
  • There are two.One on the left side and one on the right side.

VALVE

  • A structure that allows fluids to flow in only one direction

ARTERY

  • A blood vessel that carries oxygen-rich look AWAY from the heart

AORTA

  • A large artery that carries oxygen-rich blood AWAY from the heart to rest of the body

VEIN

  • A blood vessel that transports blood INTO the heart

VENA CAVA

  • The main vein leading from the body INTO the heart

CAPILLARY

  • A tiny blood vessel that connects arteries and veins
