WHEN THE RCMP STARTED

• RCMP started in 1920
• The RCMP employed constables to strike back in the interwar period
• The NWMR merged with the Domain police and made the RCMP

• In July 1874, the 275 mounted police officers headed west
• A permanent post was established at Fort Macleod, Alberta.

THE RED SERGE

• The Red Serge was made for the RCMP to represent the colour of the flag
• The dark blue shoulder straps and collars were added in 1904.
• They wore hats, the serge, gloves, Baggie short pants and polished boots.
